How to Reduce Stress

It’s no secret that stress can take a toll on your mental and physical health. According to the American Psychological Association, stress is the “number one psychological problem in the country.” While there are many things we can’t control, there are also many ways we can  learn how to reduce stress in our lives. In this article, We’ll share some tips for reducing stress.

Get Enough Sleep

Sleep is an important part of stress management. According to the Mayo Clinic, “Insufficient or disrupted sleep can lead to emotional, cognitive, and physical problems.” It’s best to get at least seven hours of sleep per night.

If you’re having trouble getting enough sleep, try taking a hot bath or shower before bed. You can also try meditation, yoga, or soothing music to help you relax.

Stay Focused And Motivated

When we’re stressed, it’s easy to get off track mentally and physically. It’s easy to start procrastinating, doing things we don’t want to do, or not doing important things we should be doing.

Manage your time

You probably have more control over how you use your time than you think you have. Start by noticing how well you do or do not manage your time.

Don’t Procrastinate.

You may find that you procrastinate about doing something in order to reduce stress. Instead, it is best to try to take action. If you’re worried about something, don’t wait around for the perfect time to do it. If you want to work out, go to the gym. If you want to go on a date, call that person. If you want to read a book, start reading. The old Nike slogan, Just Do It! was a great motto. In the time you waste thinking or worrying about doing something, you could have started it and maybe even got it done. Or at least made a sizeable dent.

Learn to Relax.

Relaxation is one of the main ways to reduce stress. If you find you are worrying, take a moment to breathe. When you exhale, imagine the stress leaving your body.

Talk about it.

It’s important to talk to someone about how you’re feeling.
